The Group Client Director is responsible for leading and growing a diverse portfolio of accounts, guiding the client relationship approach, and overseeing the firm’s scope across every project. This leader will focus on building a robust account program, creating organic growth and bolstering agency visibility and value among senior clients. The Group Client Director runs their accounts like a business: managing a clear vision, steering the firm’s ability to deliver against that vision, paying attention to team health, and leveraging insight and relationships to pursue positive change. Group Client Directors at Horizontal Digital have strong business acumen, with an insatiable curiosity about the clients’ industries, business, to-market strategy, products and growth opportunities. They love creating value with technology and the world-changing experiences it can drive. They’re adept at navigating the complexities of client organizations, mitigating risk in enterprise digital programs, while motivating their teams deliver compelling and commercially successful work.  

 What you’ll do: 

  • Develop long-term strategies to sustain, diversify and grow your portfolio of accounts across diverse industries and customer segments.  
  • Become a subject matter expert in your clients’ industries, companies and competition. Deeply understand each client’s business, their organization’s ecosystem and brand and marketing challenges so you can act as a trusted business partner and experience consultant.  
  • Develop trust-based relationships with senior clients and their teams to proactively solve business challenges, and position the firm and our clients for mutual success .  
  • Lead multi-partner platform builds, content strategy and journey orchestration/CRM work. Build a cohesive team across partners, departments, disciplines, and offices in the service of your clients – to support operationally sound, effective delivery of the agency’s committed scope.  
  • Foster high client satisfaction in everything we deliver. 
  • Actively develop relationships with department leads and peers to deepen the integrated approach to your accounts. 
  • Take an active role in guiding the careers of direct reports; coach them regularly to be stronger strategically, practically, and interpersonally. 
  • Assess and recommend strategies for building efficiencies, streamlining operations, and enhancing the value of agency to the client.  
  • Drives organic growth within their account portfolio via intentional and strategic relationship expansion, diversification and innovation in work, and proactively pursuing new projects and partnerships. 
  • Effectively assesses new opportunities and focuses team effort to respond to new projects – or full-scale RFPs. 
  • Strong financial acumen and an understanding of how to manage the financials (forecasting, revenue, margin and other goals) for their portfolio of accounts.

What you bring: 

  • Experience running a portfolio of $8M+, across Fortune 500-level multi-layered enterprise clients, or similar client relationship lead in agency, including financial management of that portfolio. 
  • Solid stakeholder management and communication skills, and the ability to articulate program scope, milestones, risk mitigation strategies, and end-state outcomes to both executives and, where appropriate, to reinforce those concepts with more day-to-day contacts. 
  • Proven versatility overseeing projects and consulting with clients in workstreams that intersect to craft connected experiences; including websites, content, CRM and DMP, journey orchestration, analytics, and digital innovation. 
  • Strong leadership skills: ability to drive strategic vision: to organize and create consensus around ideas, concepts and approaches with internal teams 
  • In depth knowledge and experience with end to end digital experience design and development and the ability to translate that experience effectively to future projects. 
  • Experience with Salesforce (Marketing Cloud, Einstein Analytics, Community Cloud) and/or Sitecore preferred. 
  • Multi-category experience across consumer (B2C), B2B is a plus 
  • Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years experience in a marketing/advertising agency environment
